<body>[Genki](http://github.com/nathanhoad/genki/tree/master) is a fork of [Xavier Shay's Enki project](http://github.com/xaviershay/enki/tree/master). Enki is described as 'a Ruby on Rails blogging app for the fashionable developer' and aims to be solid base on which developers can build their own blog. And that's where Genki comes in.

I have forked Enki in order to build in some extra features that I needed for my own blog. It's obviously a bonus if anyone else finds my additions handy.

The name, Genki, comes from the Japanese word for health and well-being so hopefully this project will remain in good health :-P.

To get started with Genki, [check it out at Github](http://github.com/nathanhoad/genki/tree/master).</body>

<body>This isn't really a project; It's more just a place to put up any random graphic design that might not be tied to any other project. You can check out my artwork at my [Deviant Art profile](http://nathanhoad.deviantart.com).

For vector drawings I tend to use Inkscape and for raster graphics I use GIMP. Both have their own toolsets that make them great for everything graphic related.</body>

<body>[Moredown](http://github.com/nathanhoad/moredown/tree/master) Ruby Gem for processing Markdown in Ruby. Starting with the solid base of [Ryan Tomayko's RDiscount Gem](http://github.com/rtomayko/rdiscount/tree/master) I added a few extras.

Moredown can be used in any way that RDiscount can be (see below) but on top of that, I have made available some additional options and syntax.

<body>NathanHoad.net is my blog/folio site. I built it to showcase some of the stuff that I have been working on over the years.

It was originally built using PHP/MySQL but I have since rewritten it using Ruby on Rails.

<body>You are your own worst enemy in Not the Word.

For 60 seconds you'll have to fight your own brain and overcome your hippocampal processes to match as many colours as you can. But take care not to match the words or you will suffer the loss of your potentially awesome score. Games like this keep your brain active; and an active brain is a healthy brain.

Not the Word is OpenFeint enabled and includes several score-based as well as puzzle-based achievements.

Random Fact: The 'Stroop' effect is named after John Ridley Stroop, who discovered its psychological strangeness in 1929.

<body>The year was 2002 and we were bright eyed grade 11 students who had just started a subject called Film &amp; TV at our high school. Our first assignment was to make a short film around the school that had some sort of linking theme. I was in a team with Tyson Dudley, Ryan Lindberg, and Andrew Thompson and our theme was a cartoony burglar who stole some stuff from around the school.

    <body>What is Claptrap?

 1. A (s)hit new [Brisbane radio show](http://www.claptrap.com.au/episodes) from 11:59pm Saturday until 2:00am Sunday on [4ZzZ](http://www.4zzzfm.org.au/) (102.1 FM).
 2. Something that does not make or have sense.
 3. Pretentious, insincere or empty language.

Griff, Dr Dan, and J Stu are hilarious and I was glad to have anything to do with such a good show.

My part was taking the old site (which they had for the first few episodes) and creating something a little more managable (the old site was created using iWeb and manually uploaded whenever there was a change :-(). My solution was to create a Rails app that the crew could update with content for each episode. I also provided the site with a podcasting ability.

Check out the site at [Claptrap.com.au](http://claptrap.com.au).</body>

<body>In the second semester of 2005 we ran a college TV show via the college network. The show was called Kings Tonight and starred Brendan "Griff" Griffen and Lucas "Lucas" Arundell. It was basically a variety show based on the goings on around the university and it's colleges.

I made up this quick animated intro the afternoon before we had our pilot. The music was an original by Lucas.
